Stewardship is about how we take care of ourselves, each other, and all of creation. It is about how we use the gifts we have been given and, in turn, give to others. Stewardship is our acknowledgement of, and response to, the boundless and never-ending love of God, poured out on us.
At St. Paul’s, the work of stewardship is done by the Official Board and its committees, groups and teams, whose work you can read about on this website. The work of stewardship is also done, less officially, by the members of the St. Paul’s community, individually or in concert.
Two important aspects of stewardship are donations of money, and commitment of time and talents.
Most of the revenue to meet those expenses comes from regular offerings from congregation members. We ask people to commit their support for the Operating Budget by pledging to donate a given amount of money during the year, or by submitting a Pre-authorized Remittance (PAR) form that allows the church to withdraw a given amount of money from your bank account or credit card on a regular schedule during the year.
If you have not yet submitted a pledge or PAR form, please do so as soon as you can. The Finance committee needs an accurate forecast of revenues to be able to plan for the upcoming year and have a realistic budget to present at the Annual Congregational Meeting for approval by the congregation. Even if you don’t intend to change the amount donated or the financial institution information, we would like you to submit a form to confirm that status (you can just write “same as in last year”). Pledge/PAR forms are available from the Welcomers desk in the Friendship Room or from the Church Office. They can be submitted to the office.
Pre-Authorized Remittance Form (please fill out and bring or mail to the church).
Please give careful consideration to increasing your support each year. Although we realize this is not possible for everyone, collectively we need to provide more support for our church operations than we have in past years, as expenses rise over time.
Finally, be reassured that you are all valued and welcome members of our church family, regardless of how much financial support you are able to offer. Your very presence in our midst is a contribution to our spiritual life together.
In addition to supporting the General Operating Budget, which funds all six of our main ministries, St. Paul’s also has trust funds set up for specific purposes. These are supported by directed donations and bequests:
You can also support the following outreach ministries by making a donation to St. Paul’s United Church and specifying the intended ministry in the message telling where you would like to have your donation directed.

very Saturday, 50-70 guests representing between 150-195 people are provided with healthy food sources through St. Paul’s participation in the Garneau Strathcona Food Security. Church volunteers from four south side United Churches connect with some local businesses every Friday or Saturday morning to collect bread and baked goods. In addition, produce, protein and other food sources are secured through church donations and the Edmonton Food Bank. St. Paul’s is pleased to support this integral work, as it provides nourishment for those in need. Please consider donating today, by dropping off non-perishable food items to the church, or clicking the donate button on the side bar. The button takes you to the Paypal for St. Paul’s United Church. After you complete the first page with the total to St. Paul’s United Church, you need to designate Garneau Strathcona Food Security as the directed recipient for the funds.
Volunteer Opportunities

GSFS is currently located at Spirit of Hope United Church 7909 82 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6C 0Y1. If you are interested in volunteering please phone or email the St. Paul’s church office.
The “Quilting Group” meets Monday mornings to create simple, warm, attractive quilts. Each quilt includes a sewn-on label stating “Made for You with God’s Love”.
The quilts, each uniquely beautiful, are donated to charitable community organizations who distribute them to their clients. Individuals in need of loving gifts are also recipients.
In addition to the work of the Quilters, this outreach project receives help from many people in the congregation at St. Paul’s and the community. While some donate material, others sew tops from packets of squares assembled by the Quilters. Monetary donations are gratefully received and are used to purchase batting, quilt backs and other supplies needed to complete quilt projects.
It is our prayer that the recipients of the quilts will understand that they have been made for them by loving hands to offer warmth and comfort in God’s name.
